KUCHING: The capability to make its own decisions in the interest of Sarawak should reflect the identity of the people of Sarawak in deciding their future so that they can stand tall among states or nations which are already ahead.
Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said although the Sarawak Government respected the decisions which were made at the federal government level, not all were suitable or practical for implementation in Sarawak.
“Sarawak is a region which is almost as big as peninsular Malaysia, and sometimes with resources and infrastructural constraints, it is quite difficult for our authorities to implement decisions which have been made at the federal level,” he said in his message in conjunction with Sarawak Day celebration today.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia needs a “War against Covid-19 Pandemic” coalition government whose sole task is to win the war against Covid -19, Lim Kit Siang said today.
“The country needs a national coalition encompassing the Executive, Parliament and all sectors of Malaysian society for an ‘all-of-government’ and ‘whole-of-society’ strategy and approach to win the war against Covid-19 pandemic, with the evolution of the earlier war aim of zero tolerance for the coronavirus to co-existence with it,” the DAP leader said in a statement today.
“The invisible but lethal war against Covid-19 pandemic is going to be long haul with experts forecasting that it would take another two or three years before we can return to pre-pandemic normalcy.

ON June 15, the prime minister proposed a four-phase Covid-19 recovery plan which would tentatively last until the end of the year.
It is a phased exit strategy for the country to steer out from the pandemic based on three indicators, namely the number of daily Covid-19 infections, the capability of public healthcare system and the percentage of population that has received two doses of vaccines.
This simply means that the movement restrictions will remain in force so long as the Covid -9 cases do not decline sufficiently.
As of June 16, around 14.6 million (62.50%) Malaysians have registered for vaccination and around five million have received their
