Petersburg's historic Old Towne hosts Friday for the Arts! on April 9

Dinner in Old Towne Grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants in Old Towne or partake in Food Truck Friday. Tipton and River Street Market President Richard Cuthbert lined up three food trucks to sell their eats during the monthly celebration. Doobie Lou s, Lady Sharon s Soul Food Kitchen, and Grilled Meats and Treats will be parked behind the Farmers Market starting at 5:30 pm. To see what the trio have to offer follow them on Facebook. Petersburg on My Mind   Across the street from the Farmers Market, the Petersburg Area Art League will be hosting their opening exhibit Petersburg on My Mind by Catherine Venable. Ms. Venable has captured the essence and beauty of Petersburg through its residents, architecture, and history.

There will be music in two performing arts venues, and great exhibits at the Petersburg Area Art League [PAAL], as well as a Friday Funday macramé project at Old Towne Studio 7.

Live entertainment venues are hard to come by these days

The Progress-Index When was the last time you listened to live music in person? I bet for most of you it will be one year this March when COVID-19 was declared a national emergency. The earliest I noticed live bands performing last year in my area occurred in Old Towne Petersburg in June. On a temporary stage in the temporary outdoor dining area called Old Towne Square located on Sycamore Street between Bank Street and Bollingbrook Street in Petersburg, Main Street Petersburg, Inc., Old Towne s Alibi, DJ s Rajun Cajun, and Old Towne Studio 7 hosted a variety of performances at Music at the Square on Friday evenings.
