UNEVOC Latin American Network Strengthens Ties
During its annual REDITEC meeting in Brazil, the National Council of the Federal Network of Vocational, Scientific, and Technological Education Institutions (Conif), jointly with UNESCO-UNEVOC, organized a UNEVOC Network cluster meeting for Latin America.
Each year, the REDITEC meeting assembles the Rectors of Brazilian Federal Institutes and Centres of Vocational, Scientific, and Technological Education to evaluate and discuss practices in the Federal Network. The Federal Network works with an emphasis on professional and technological education as well as the development of applied research and innovation.

GATINEAU, QC, May 18, 2021 /CNW/ - The COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on Canadian workers with many facing job losses and the need to upgrade or learn new skills to re-join the workforce. The Government of Canada has been there for workers and their families throughout the pandemic and continues to make ground-breaking investments to create jobs and help businesses come roaring back. Making sure that workers can improve or acquire new skills is key to achieving that goal.
Today, during a virtual meeting with stakeholders, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Carla Qualtrough launched Skills for Success, a new skills training program to help Canadians improve their foundational skills so they can find and keep good jobs. The program will provide training to nearly 90,000 Canadians and help get them back to work.

OTTAWA, April 16, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is pleased to announce that applications for the Supportive Care Assistant Program, funded by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Initiatives Program, are now open. This new work integrated training program was developed to quickly address the acute labour shortages in the long-term care sector and is offered at no charge by select colleges and institutes across Canada.
The program includes six-weeks of online training followed by a four-month paid work placement. Students are given the opportunity to discover a new career and make a difference in their community while earning a wage.
