As the Calgary Stampede’s first Rodeo Queen, Patricia “Patsy” Henderson Rodgers has been the smiling face and graceful icon of the organization’s monarchy since 1946.
Now, nearly a month after her passing at the age of 95, Rodgers’ family and the Stampede Queen’s Alumni Committee are working to keep her legacy alive.

Rodgers was only 20 years old when she and her father, second and third generation Alberta ranchers, visited the Calgary Stampede and Exhibition, where she caught the attention of Stampede administration who at the time were looking to expand the scope of the rodeo program.
