Proceedings were a continued with a possible plea deal in the works for John Chambers, the man accused of stabbing Maurice Catlett in January.
A plea agreement seems to have been reached between Chambers and the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, but public defender requested a small continuance to give him time to deliver that paperwork to Chambers at the Christian County Jail and have him sign it.
At the moment, Chambers is facing a charge of first-degree assault in January, a verbal dispute between Chambers and Catlett became physical near the Manhattan Motel on South Main Street. Chambers is alleged to have stabbed Catlett multiple times, causing injuries to his arm that sent him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.

Two Rotorua motels earned more than $1 million in emergency housing funding in just one year, according to new figures obtained by the Rotorua Daily Post. The figures, released by the Ministry of Social Development under the Official Information Act, show what each motel earned in emergency housing in 2020.
The Grand Treasure on Pukuatua St made the most with $1.45 million being paid by the ministry for emergency housing between January 1 and December 31 for 906 grants relating to 183 distinct clients.

Arraignment was held Wednesday morning for the man charged with assault for a December 26 stabbing incident on South Main Street.
Public Defender Rick Sandborne entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 51-year old John Chambers of Hopkinsville and Judge John Atkins set his next court date for March 3.
Hopkinsville police were called to the 300 block of South Main outside near the Manhattan Motel a few minutes before 9 p.m. on December 26 and determined Chambers had been in a verbal dispute with Maurice Catlett that became physical.
That’s when Chambers allegedly stabbed Catlett multiple times, causing injuries to his arm that sent him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

An indictment was returned Friday morning against the man arrested December 26 for a stabbing incident near the Manhattan Motel on South Main Street in Hopkinsville.
The indictment for first-degree assault was returned against 51-year old John Chambers of Hopkinsville.
Hopkinsville police were called to the 300 block of South Main outside near the Manhattan Motel a few minutes before 9 p.m. on December 26 and determined Chambers had been in a verbal dispute with Maurice Catlett that became physical.
