Ahmedabad, Dec 31: A day after tendering his resignation from the BJP, Lok Sabha member and former Union minister Mansukh Vasava on Wednesday said he has dropped the idea of quitting the party following talks with its senior leaders.
Vasava, a six-time MP from tribal-dominated Bharuch in Gujarat, had on Tuesday said he was quitting the BJP only due to health problems and had no issues with the government or the party.
Talking to reporters after meeting Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar on Wednesday morning, he said, Senior party leaders told me that I will get free treatment for my back pain and neck pain only if I continue to be an MP. This is not possible if I resign as an MP. Party leaders asked me to take rest and assured that a system will be put in place wherein local party workers will do work on my behalf.

SURAT/GANDHINAGAR: Senior BJP member and Bharuch MP Mansukh Vasava resigned from the party on Tuesday citing personal and health reasons, just days after he wrote to the Prime Minister seeking withdrawal of a notification declaring 121 villages of Narmada district an ‘eco-sensitive zone’.
He had expressed apprehension and concern that the tribal population of the district would lose employment opportunities due to the notification.
His resignation is likely to adversely affect BJP’s fortunes in the upcoming local body polls in the tribal belt, where Chhotu Vasava’s Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) and AIMIM have already struck an alliance. In his letter to Gujarat party chief CR Paatil, Vasava wrote, “I thank the BJP high command and the party for giving me all that I could handle. I have been loyal to the party always. It follows an intervention from party’s State leadership
Mansukh Vasava, Lok Sabha member from Bharuch in Gujarat, on Wednesday retracted his resignation from the BJP after an intervention from the party’s State leadership.
On Tuesday, Mr. Vasava resigned from the party and suggested that he would submit his resignation to the Speaker during the coming budget session of Parliament.
However, he had a change of heart and declared that he withdrew the resignation letter sent to State party chief C.R. Paatil.
