MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Easterseals Central Alabama cooked thousands of pounds of crawfish Saturday, all for a good cause.
This was the organizations 17th annual Autism Crawfish Boil. Money raised from Saturday will benefit autism services provided at Easterseals Central Alabama.
“Not only do they provide incredible services for families affected by autism, speech therapy, occupational therapy, HIPAA therapy, but even more importantly, they provide access to testing and timely diagnosis,” Crawfish Boil Committee Chair Stefania Jones said.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - April is Autism Awareness Month to spread awareness and promote acceptance for those affected by autism.
According to the Autism Society, autism affects 1 in 54 children.
“You likely have somebody, if you’re a student in your classroom, some of their siblings, and then also possibly some co-workers, but know that there’s also a good bit of the population that may not be able to access some of the services that they need, just because we are growing some of those services in Alabama right now,” explained Anna McConnell, the State Autism Coordinator in the Alabama Department of Mental Health’s Office of Autism Services.
A chance meeting led to the birth of a powerful music duo that’s been making rounds in the River Region, including a couple of local gigs this weekend.
The Lacy-Todd Duo (Lacy Lynn and Todd Fulmer) perform in Prattville on Friday at Adrienne’s Downtown Bar from 9 p.m.-midnight. After a little bit of sleep, they’ll be back in action the next morning from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium’s Club Car Bar during the 17th annual Autism Crawfish Boil in downtown Montgomery.
Lynn and Fulmer met thanks to a house party held by another of Montgomery s music greats, Wyatt Edmondson.
