Traders demand compensation for lost business The business community could no longer afford any sort of lockdown, says All Pakistan Anjumane Tajiran ISLAMABAD: The business community in the federal capital has raised questions about the number of coronavirus cases reported during the days of Eidul Fitr compared to Chand Raat. All Pakistan Anjumane Tajiran (APAT) President Ajmal Baloch, Secretary and former senior vice president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalid Chaudhry, Ahmad Khan, and other traders’ leaders have demanded that the government compensate them for the losses they have incurred due to the prolonged Eid holidays, particularly closure of businesses on Chand Raat.

Another 7 die of corona, 111 more test positive Islamabad May 17, 2021 Rawalpindi: As many as 111 new patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 in the last 24 hours from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district while the virus has claimed another seven lives from the twin cities on the third day of Eidul Fitr that has taken death toll from the region to 1,660 on Sunday. Data collected by ‘The News’ reveals that as many as 20 patients from the twin cities have died of the illness from ‘Chand Raat’ to the third day of Eid. The total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 102,372.

Four policemen were suspended for assaulting a cameraman of a private news channel. According to police, four cops of the Sharea Faisal police station were suspended after they were found involved in misbehaving with and manhandling a cameraman, Rehan Subhan, of a private news channel on Chand Raat. Different journalist bodies, including the associations of the cameramen and crime reporters, had staged a protest against the incident and demanded action against the cops who manhandled the cameraman. Despite the fact that the cameraman had told the cops that he was out for his media job, Constable Amir thrashed him. Later, police high-ups took notice of the incident and suspended Constable Amir and three other constables, Abdul Rehman, Kashif and Imran, over the incident.
