UoM to inquire into answer scripts’ ‘swap’

The University of Mysore on Wednesday constituted a committee to probe into the allegations of swapping of answer scripts of B.Sc (Chemistry) paper for which the examination was conducted on April 15 and 17 this year, An inquiry report was expected to be submitted in the next 15 days.
Acting on a complaint from the Karnataka Rashtra Samithi party on the alleged wrongdoings and the ‘involvement’ of some university staff and students in the alleged changeover of scripts, Vice-Chancellor G. Hemantha Kumar said the issue had come to his notice only through the KRS petition.

Islamabad police nab ringleader of Afghan criminal gang

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 25 people, including a ringleader of an Afghan criminal gang, involved in criminal activities, and recovered snatched gold ornaments, valuables, vehicle, mobile phone and weapons from him, police said.
DIG (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed ordered crackdown against criminals, including those involved in street crime. The DIG directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb the crime in the city.
SP (Rural-Zone) Farooq Amjad Butter constituted special team under supervision of DSP Rukhsar Medhi, including SHO Lohibher Police along with others. This team nabbed wanted member of dacoits’ gang, involved in snatching cash and other valuables at gun point along with other accomplices.
