Sheephill Quarry has another 10 years on its lease (Photo - Turkey Red Media) A BID by West Dunbartonshire Council’s chief executive to overturn a planning decision by councillors has failed. Joyce White, pictured, called in votes by the planning committee over Sheephill Quarry warning it could cost the council more than £2.4 million if the company challenged the local authority in court. For more than five hours councillors heard the same arguments as the committee in a meeting just weeks earlier, but a majority argued the original decision should be upheld. The debate was just the latest twist in a mess of 70 years in the making.
