1890 - A newly rebuilt Put-in-Bay House on South Bass Island reopens on the site of the previous hotel that was leveled by flames.
1902 - A mob of mourners converges on Forest Cemetery as six of seven of the young people who lost their lives in a boating tragedy on the Maumee River are laid to rest. The Toledo Bee reports as many as 2,000 morbid curiosity seekers packed the city graveyard and trampled the sacred ground, picked flowers and gathered other relics . The article stated they almost turned it into a circus atmosphere with laughing and disrespect. The Bee called the crowd disgusting .

1849 -The first bridge over the Maumee River at Perrysburg is wiped out by severe flooding.
1945 - Sgt. Alexander Drabik of Toledo becomes the first American soldier to cross over the Rhine River into Germany on the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. Drabik dodged Nazi bullets and bombs as he led a platoon over the embattled span. The son of Polish immigrants, he returned to his Toledo home as a national hero for his bravery.

1907 - Escape artist Harry Houdini thrills audience at the Valentine Theater when he manages to free himself from the so called Oregon Boot involving four handcuffs and a heavy piece of steel. His next act promises an escape from a zinc-lined piano box from Starr Pianos in Toledo.

One more coronavirus death in Wood County
There have been 7,644 confirmed and probable coronavirus cases in Wood County, according to a Wednesday health department update.
This is an increase of 77 since Tuesday.
There have been 143 deaths, which which is an increase of one since Tuesday.
There are 347 active cases, a decrease of 19.
There have been 427 hospitalizations since March. The age range is 1-103 and the median age is 39. There are 3,680 males and 3,964females.
Wood Countyâs state alert for coronavirus is âredâ or level 3.
Level 3 means that there is very high exposure and spread. People are encouraged to limit activities.
