MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins today announced minor league managerial and coaching assignments for the 2021 season. For the second consecutive year, all six affiliates will have two pitching coaches, one of whom is bilingual (English & Spanish), while the top three levels employ five-person coaching staffs.
Triple-A St. Paul Saints
Toby Gardenhire makes his Triple-A managerial debut with the St. Paul Saints, after guiding the Twins’ two Single-A affiliates to a combined 151-121 (.555) mark from 2018-19.
Matt Borgschulte will be the Saints’ hitting coach, after serving in the same capacity for Single-A Ft. Myers in 2019 and the GCL Twins in 2018.

If you’re even a casual NHL fan, there’s likely a number of team operation departments you’ve become familiar with as being a standard. You don’t flinch when you hear the words “Player Development Staff” or “Analytics Department,” and have at least heard of “Sport Science,” but … are you sure you know what they do? In fairness, are we sure that teams themselves know what they do? (My guesses here are “probably not exactly” and “not always,” for the record.)
