Cary-Grove Masons makes donation to WINGS

Updated 7/21/2021 8:05 PM Cary-Grove Masonic Lodge No. 1157 recently made a $2,000 contribution to WINGS Program, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic violence. The mission of WINGS Program Inc. is to provide housing, integrated services, education and advocacy to end domestic violence.   Checks were presented to David Kahan, chief operating officer of WINGS. The Cary-Grove Lodge also presented the Community Builder Award to Christopher Nichols of Arlington Pipe and Cigar Lounge in Arlington Heights. June 30, 2021 : By Ryan Klinker - Office of Communications & Public Engagement After years of turning his life story once characterized by delinquency and failure into a platform to encourage others and spark change in education and beyond, Liberty University alumnus Brandon Fleming (’13) has now written and published a memoir, “Miseducated.” Fleming is the founder and CEO of the Harvard Debate Council Diversity Project, which recruits underserved high school youth with minimal to no prior debate experience to compete against hundreds of elite debaters from over 25 countries. Since the program was created in 2017, every cohort trained by Fleming has won the international competition. This achievement caught the attention of national news outlets and Fleming was featured on CNN, ESPN, Good Morning America, and more. In 2020, he was recognized on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list. His efforts have also been recognized by The Root Magazine, which named him among the 100 most in

Photo provided As we settle in to the new year and either break or keep up with our resolutions take some time to look back at all of the news of the week. It was another busy week in Montgomery County. THE BOARD of Commissioners have hired Mike Davis to the new position of Mapping Director. Mike was serving as the Geographic Information Coordinator for the County. Mike has worked for the County for 24 years. He started as Chief Deputy in the Surveyor’s Office where he was responsible for digitizing the legal drains in the County. He then worked in the Building Department as a building inspector and helped created the Mapping Division which was responsible for creating digital maps for properties in the County.
