Hugh Bowman is chasing his 100th Group 1 win when he rides Port Louis in the JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm
Victory in the Queensland Oaks aboard Duais has put Hugh Bowman in sight of an important milestone.
If Bowman can steer Port Louis to victory in the J J Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday it will be the champion rider’s 100th success at the highest level.
After Duais’ win in the Queensland Oaks last Saturday, Bowman has 94 Group 1 wins in Australia along with four in Hong Kong and one in Japan.

A change of fortune at the barrier draw could be the impetus Tiger Of Malay needs to rediscover his best form in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm.
The Pago Pago Stakes placegetter has had no luck with gates this preparation, drawing eight of nine when down the track in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick and eight of 10 in the Champagne Classic at Doomben where he finished fifth.
Expect the Sydney horses to continue the Brisbane domination next Saturday.
Waller has Senor Toba ($4) and Achiever ($15) running in the Group 1 Queensland Derby this week.
Assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth said punters should be looking at the weather when deciding which one to back.
“It’s really interesting with those horses and it’s a good position for the stable to be in because one is unbeaten on good tracks and the other is pretty much unbeaten on a heavy track,” Duckworth said.
“See what the weather does and you’ll know which one you’ll want to be on. They’ve got completely different racing patterns as well so it’s hard to gauge.
