Prayagraj: As the Sangam city is fast marching towards becoming a Smart City, the campus of Allahabad University is all set to become more equipped in terms of sporting in-house facilities. Under the Smart City Project, sporting facilities at AU would be given the much-needed fillip for which the authorities would be spending an amount over Rs 11 crore.
Following a tender floated by Smart City authorities, the AU campus (especially the Science faculty) would have facilities like synthetic tennis, basketball and volleyball court besides synthetic athletic track, enhanced pathway, solar lighting, facility of proper drainage of rainwater from sporting courts etc. Commenting on the issue, divisional commissioner Sanjay Goyal told TOI, “As part of our efforts to provide top-class sporting facilities in Prayagraj smart city, we have decided to significantly upgrade available facilities for different sports like basketball, football, hockey, volleyball and athletics among others on Alla

Prayagraj: Allahabad University on Saturday announced it would be holding its convocation on September 23 the foundation day of the university since it was established on the day in 1887 as the fourth university in the country.
The decision was taken in a virtual meeting chaired by vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava and attended by all the deans, heads of departments, the directors of institutes and coordinators of centres of the university on Saturday.
“After discussion, it was decided that the next convocation would be held on September 23. Whether the event will be in online or offline will depend on the then prevailing Covid situation,” said the public relations officer (PRO) Jaya Kapoor.
