Following the latest announcement, Wales and Scotland have decided that, at present, their final year students will continue on their courses and placements as usual and will not be given the option of paid placements.
Meanwhile, England has confirmed that it will be reintroducing paid placements for students nurses. Northern Ireland is yet to confirm its position to

In a letter addressed to all nursing and midwifery students in the country, Scotland’s chief nursing officer Professor Fiona McQueen said the “top priority” was to ensure final year students completed their courses on time.
She explained that the “progress of the Covid-19 pandemic is not currently at the same stage as in England” and so the Scottish Government “do not believe it is appropriate to disrupt your programmes through authorising full-time student deployment at this time”.
