ST. LOUIS – Kirill Kaprizov s first regular season in the NHL is over, and the rookie is cashing in.
Before sitting out the Wild s finale Thursday against the Blues, Kaprizov already had maxed out the performance bonuses in his contract paid by the Wild, earning an extra $631,707 this season.
Kaprizov received bonuses for goals, points, points per game, ice time and for finishing in the top 10 in the NHL in goals. The 24-year-old is also eligible to get bonus money from the NHL for being a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the league s top rookie and for ranking in the top 10 in the NHL for goals among forwards.

The South Florida chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association announced that goaltender Chris Driedger has been selected as the club’s 2020-21 nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
Driedger, 26, has appeared in a career-high 23 games with Florida this season. He posted a 14-6-3 record, 2.07 goals against average, .927 save percentage and three shutouts.

The veteran defenseman overcame the challenges of back surgery to appear in 47 games, and scored goals in back-to-back games the final weekend. DeKeyser’s resilience in the face of a career-threatening injury earned him the distinction of being the Detroit chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association nominee for the 2021 Masterton Trophy.
To add clarity to how this works, every city’s PHWA chapter nominates a player from that team for the Masterton, then one is chosen as the winner. Last season, Bobby Ryan won it. This season there are a lot of good candidates. I think DeKeyser is the obvious choice for Detroit, but isn’t likely to be named the leaguewide winner. In general, the award is given for players who come back from very serious adversity or who have just played a ton of years. Buffalo Sabres goaltender Dustin Tokarski is the team’s nominee for the 2020-21 Masterton Trophy, the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association and the NHL announced Monday.
The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually under the trusteeship of the PHWA, is given “to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.”
A nominee is selected from each team, and the winner is selected in a poll of all chapters of the PHWA at the end of the regular season.
