The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site Will Get Multimillion Renovation
INDIANAPOLIS It was the home of the 23rd president of the United States, Benjamin Harrison. Now, it’s a National Historic Landmark about to get a $6 million transformation.
The Old Glory, New Vision capital campaign will be enhancing more than two acres outside the Benjamin Harrison Presidential site, and making renovations to Harrison’s home to give the community better access and education to its history.
“So, with these enhancements it will allow us to better connect within our neighborhood, to allow better walkability and bikeability, and to better imbue the property with educational elements,” said Charles A. Hyde, President and CEO of Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.

• The Massillon Museum will exhibit artwork by area school children through March 7 with a Celebration in Art. The Aultman Health Foundation Gallery glows with color, imagination, and many more works of art than it usually displays. Art teachers in all schools within and surrounding Massillon have been invited to submit artwork by their students from kindergarten through high school.
• Now through March 21, My Community: Through the Eyes of the 21st-Century African American Child is open in the Fred F. Silk Community Room at the Massillon Musuem, 121 Lincoln Way E. The photography exhibition is by fifth- to eighth-grade students. Also on display is Massillon’s Pro and Semi-Pro Teams, 1890–1926, is on display in the Paul Brown Museum. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– The
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site has a new exhibit highlighting the night he won the nomination to become Indiana’s first U.S. president.
It’s called
“The Night Indianapolis Roared.” It features a gallery that captures some of the moments of June 25, 1888, the night Harrison won the Republican Party’s nomination to become first president of the United States from Indiana.
The new exhibit is part of the New Century Curator Initiative, a partnership between the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site and IUPUI’s Museum Studies program. It offers an opportunity for students in Museum Studies to assist in developing an exhibit for the presidential site.
