Since 2008 they’ve hit many milestones including the land donation, and the province supplying operational funding, which will be $2 million per year.
She explained they wanted to reach at least half of their fundraising goal before beginning construction and they’ve well exceeded that. They only have $1.1 million of their $4 million goal left to raise.
“It’s just going to give people another option and an option that we need in this city and the surrounding communities,” she said.
What comes next is the beginning of construction and the hospice will continue to fundraise to reach their goal.
“This project has been a long time coming and we’ve persevered, we didn’t stop, and it’s just great to see all the support, and the continued support we have is amazing,” Mitchell said.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - Dry conditions and strong winds caused a large wildfire to grow Tuesday near Saskatchewan s third-largest city even as firefighters fought the flames. The fire continues to rage, said Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne.
The wildfire had forced people from at least 50 homes by late Tuesday afternoon. This is a fast-moving fire and residents and the public are advised to avoid the area, the city said in a release.
The city of about 40,000, about 140 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, is no stranger to wildfires, but Dionne said this blaze was worryingly close.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency said the fire began about four kilometres northeast of Prince Albert on Monday afternoon. The cause was still being investigated.
It quickly grew with unseasonably high temperatures and strong winds.
A state of emergency was declared for Prince Albert and the Rural Municipality of Buckland later in the day.
