KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday said that Thar Coal Block-I project comprises a 7.8-million-tonne-per-annum (Mtpa) open-pit coal mine and installation of a 1.3 GW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant.
“The coal mining work has been completed by 40 per cent and I will visit the project by the end of this month,” CM Shah said while talking to a delegation of Thar Coal Block-I Power Generation Co led by its CEO Meng Donghai.
The delegation members include Sino-Sindh Resources Ltd (SSRL) CEO Li Jigen, Deputy CEO Huang Jinting and Deputy CEO Chaudhary Qayyum. The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, Principal Secretary Sajid Jamal Abro and Sindh Energy Secretary Tariq Shah.
Sindh Education Foundation to bring 200,000 children back to school

The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) is going to establish 1,000 educational institutions across the province under public-private partnership to bring 200,000 out-of-school children back to classrooms.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took the decision during a meeting of the SEFâs board of governors that he chaired at the CM House on Wednesday.
The meeting was told that the SEF plans to set up a thousand schools that will be run by private partners, and these institutions will have the special task of bringing 200,000 out-of-school children back to classrooms. After a discussion, the board members approved the proposal.
CM Murad Ali Shah sets time frames to clear irrigation department properties of encroachments

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has set time frames for the removal of encroachments from the provincial irrigation departmentâs properties, including embankments, headworks and drainage systems.
The chief executive took this decision during a meeting that he presided over at the CM House on Saturday to prepare a plan to remove encroachments from the irrigation departmentâs properties.
The meeting was attended by Irrigation Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, CMâs law adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah, Board of Revenue Senior Member Qazi Shahid Pervaiz, Advocate General Salman Talibuddin, CMâs Principal Secretary Sajid Jamal Abro, Irrigation Secretary Rafiq Buriro, Katchi Abadis Secretary Baqaullah Unar and others.
