NLMK supplies heavy plate for large-scale wind power project

NLMK DanSteel, NLMK Group’s plant located in Denmark, has supplied heavy plate for an offshore wind farm project in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, the first major wind farm in Brittany, France. Steel from NLMK DanSteel is being used to manufacture components for wind turbine towers.
The Saint-Brieuc Bay wind farm, covering an area of 75 km
2, will consist of 62 wind turbines. It is scheduled for launch in 2023. With the wind farm’s capacity close to 500 MW, there will be enough energy generated to supply electricity to more than 800,000 people, a quarter of Brittany’s population.
SMS group now sole owner of Paul Wurth

German plant builder SMS group has acquired the remaining 40.8% of Paul Wurth SA and has become the sole owner of Paul Wurth s plant engineering business.
The 40.8% of shares were owned by the Luxembourg state and state-owned banking organisations, but now the German plant builder is in charge.
The Luxembourg site will now be expanded to become the R&D centre for decarbonisation and recycling within the SMS group, with both companies (SMS and Paul Wurth) pooling their R&D activities with the aim of setting technological standards in these forward-thinking fields .
Severstal delivers large diameter pipes to Peru

Severstal has delivered large diameter pipe to Peru.
PAO Severstal, one of the world s leading vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining companies, has delivered an order of large-diameter pipes (LDP) to Peru, in the company’s first ever shipment to South America.
The products were produced at Severstal’s Izhora Pipe Plant, located in St. Petersburg, Russia. Pipes were manufactured in line with the API 5L PSL 1 steel production standard, grade X52, diameter 762 mm, thickness 9,53 mm.
The pipes were shipped directly from the port of St. Petersburg to the port of Ilo, in southern Peru.

Petronor, its Basque subsidiary, presented its strategy for the development of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH
2C). The presentation took place at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, Spain. According to the company, BH
2C s development is unlike other similar projects and aims to be comprehensive, incorporating the entire value chain.

Four of the leading US-based domestic steel industry associations and the United Steelworkers union have urged President-elect Joe Biden to ensure steel tariffs and quotas, put in place in 2018 to protect national security, are preserved.
