Federal Government, on Monday, solicited the support of the media in the bid to design more strategy nationally, regionally and globally on migration reportage, as well as sensitisation of Nigerian youths who are involved in irregular migration with its attendant consequences.
Senator Basheer Mohammed, Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons NCRMIDPs) gave the charge in Nasarawa State, at the opening of a two-day capacity building workshop for local Media Practitioners on migration reportage, argued that migration is inevitable in view of the driving forces in an intercontinental and interdependent world.

The Federal Government has concluded plans to build over 600 Housing units for Internally Displaced Persons in Kano, as Kano State already set aside 20,000 hectares of Land for the project.
This is even as the National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Person said 2.6 million persons are presently displaced across Nigeria while distributing food items and other intervention to the affected persons.
Federal Commissioner of the Commission Bashir Mohammad Garba disclosed this in Sunday while flagging off distribution of food items and materials to 1,500 persons hosted by governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) was originally established as National Commission for Refugees by Decree 52 of 1989, now Cap. 21, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
