BOZEMAN â Today marks another milestone at Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport, with the first Southwest Airlines flight in the entire history of the state of Montana.
That first flight also flew in a unique story of friendship.
It was a reception at BZN that the director described as a victory, not just for the airport but for the surrounding area.
The blue, yellow and red plane that landed and docked at Gate B7 was the first Southwest Airlines plane to land at Bozeman Yellowstone International after more than a decadeâs effort to bring it here.

Annual day of service: National Honor Society students at BHS spend the day giving back to the community
Students spent the day volunteering for local nonprofits and businesses.

BOZEMAN â It was all smiles on Wednesday at Gallatin Regional Parkâs off-leash dog park, where you could find BHS juniors and seniors with the National Honor Society staying busy during their annual day of service.
Special Olympics Torch Run returns to Bozeman to kick off summer games

BOZEMAN â On Thursday afternoon, Special Olympics Montana and local law enforcement from Bozeman ran down main street kicking off the 2021 Summer Games with their infamous torch run.
âItâs really nice to do the torch run again, said Bozeman junior athlete Jamie Taylor. Last year it was rough with COVID. It was great going back into it again.â
Business owners, citizens and many students from Bozeman High came to show their support.
âIt was incredible to see how much support there was, said Bozeman chief of police Jim Veltkamp. I honestly had no idea there was going to be that many citizens, business owners and students out on the sidewalk. Coming past and seeing everybody supporting the athletes, having their signs out, that made everything extra special.â
