It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful campus than Baylor’s, with its mix of classic (and modern) architecture, abundant greenery and generous open spaces all across campus.
In no particular order, here are 10 of our favorite views of our beloved school.
1. Obviously, Pat Neff Hall has to make the list. (There’s actually an entire Instagram Guide dedicated to the best views of this beloved landmark.)
2. McLane Stadium from across the Brazos.
3. The ceiling of Carroll Science.
4. The BSB from literally any angle.
5. The Garden of Contentment at Armstrong Browning Library.
6. Foster in the fall.
7. Study views into the courtyard of Old Main.
Maybe you’re looking for a nice day trip from your home in DFW, Houston, Austin or San Antonio. Maybe it’s a stop on a longer summer vacation drive across Texas. Maybe it’s your (or your child’s) Orientation or Line Camp that brings you this way.
Whatever your reason for visiting Waco this summer, there’s plenty to see and do. A quick Google search reveals the classic favorites the Baylor campus, Cameron Park (and Cameron Park Zoo), the Dr Pepper Museum, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum, etc. so we’re going to do a little bit deeper dive.
Can you believe it? Joy, the elder of our two beloved American black bears, is celebrating her 20th birthday today!
Joy officially Judge Joy Reynolds was born on Jan. 27, 2001; her sister, Judge Sue Sloan (“Lady”), was born a year and four days later (Jan. 31, 2002), and so turns 19 later this week. The bears came to the Baylor campus two decades ago from a private Oregon ranch when they were each about four months old. At that age, taking care of the bears was much like taking care of any baby minus the milk guzzling and 30-pound weight. Their Chamber-member trainers learned what life was like as single parents for the few months the bears needed constant attention. Mornings began at 8 a.m. with the first formula feeding of the day, five hours of exploring and walking around campus, then another feeding.
