Walker/Globe Staff In an effort to make coronavirus vaccines more accessible to Massachusetts educators, state officials announced Wednesday they will designate four days at the state’s mass vaccination sites for K-12 teachers, child-care workers, and other school staff members to be vaccinated. The dates — Saturday, March 27; Saturday, April 3; Saturday, April 10; and Sunday, April 11 — were chosen to support President Biden’s directive for states to vaccinate teachers in an effort to get students back for in-person learning, Governor Charlie Baker’s administration wrote in an announcement.

The city’s school district reported 19 student cases and 19 staff cases, according to a weekly report from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. A total of 934 coronavirus cases, including 390 staff members and the 544 students, were reported in schools from Jan. 14 to 20, the report indicated. There were 507 student cases and 333 staff cases at local school districts, five student cases and 16 staff cases at education collaboratives, and 32 student cases and 41 staff cases at approved special education schools.

Those cases do not include students who are learning remotely. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education each Thursday issues a COVID case report, detailing the number of students and staff members who reported a positive test for the coronavirus within seven days of being inside school buildings. This week’s report details 505 student cases and 355 staff cases at local school districts. There were six student cases and 10 staff cases at education collaboratives. And there were 12 student cases and 42 staff cases at approved special education schools.
