Cromwell officials adopt $54.3 million budget proposal for 2021-22

CROMWELL - The Board of Finance has adopted a $54.3 million proposed budget for the coming fiscal year, a package that will go before voters on May 4.

The Finance Board acted after spending about 45 minutes reviewing the general government (or town) budget, but made no reductions in that $17.9 million part of the proposal.
The board did recently reduce the proposed increase in education spending by $312,000 to $32.7 million.
The Board of Education had submitted a proposal calling for spending $33.1 million, a 3.9 percent increase from its current budget.
In presenting her proposed budget, Superintendent of Schools Enza Macri shad said the $33.1 million budget was what she needed to overcome the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and the disruptions it created for students psychologically and emotionally.
