LANESBOROUGH â€” Town officials are one step from interviewing finalists to become the town s next police chief. The Police Chief Search Committee has arrived at five semifinalists from a stack of 28 resumes of law enforcement personnel who want to succeed Police Chief Timothy Sorrell. None of the five is from Berkshire County, according to Sorrell, who is advising the committee but is not a voting member. The committee voted Tuesday to send a list of questions for the semifinalists to answer. Once the written responses are returned to the committee, Chairman Rob Reilly will distribute copies to the full committee, whose members will score the answers and recommend the three finalists.

Sherborn awaits updates on coronavirus vaccine Sarah Freedman, Correspondent             SHERBORN At the Jan. 21 Sherborn Select Board meeting, Board of Health Chairwoman Daryl Beardsley provided a progress report on what was going on in the state and town of Sherborn in terms of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the phases in which people could expect to receive one.             She said the number-one question the board gets asked is about COVID-19 vaccinations. She noted there are links to the Department of Public Health website so residents can stay up-to-date on the issue.             “In short, they’re working through phases of rollout,” she said. “As you know, the medical professionals were first. First responders are in process at the moment.”

Great Barrington: New Police Chief Appointed

Acting Police Chief Paul Storti, a 26-year veteran of the Great Barrington Police Department, has been appointed as the town’s next chief of police. According to The Berkshire Edge, Storti, 53, was among 30-plus candidates screened by a Police Chief Search Committee, made up of town residents and led by the recruiting firm Community Paradigm Associates LLC, headquartered in Plymouth. Storti was the only internal job candidate. “After interviewing three finalists for the position, Paul Storti emerged easily as the very best candidate to build on the progressive groundwork laid by Chief Walsh,” said Great Barringtoon Town Manager, Mark Pruhenski, referring to retired Chief William R. Walsh Jr.
