Paora Tiatoa (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Raukawa) opened his Beauty and the Beast exhibition at the Hihiaua Cultural Centre last Friday night. Around 50 people attended the opening, which began with a moving karakia and whakatau.
Those in attendance had a chance to win some of Tiatoa s work, with a raffle-like giveaway taking place for three of his prints. Tiatoa then conducted a provocative performance, featuring him wearing a sugar-skull mask and dancing with hammers to Pink Floyd s Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2).
Gumboot-clad runner completes 100 mile race with 1600 burpees

Paora Raharaha ran 100 miles in gumboots, stopping to do 10 burpees every kilometre.

For most, running 100 miles is challenging enough but Paora Raharaha has taken it two steps further at the Tarawera Ultramarathon.
Raharaha, from Paeroa in the North Island, completed the challenging course in a pair of gumboots and added to his feat by completing 10 burpees every kilometre - 1600 in total. I ran in gumboots at the Auckland Marathon last year with two mates who were raising money for charity, Raharaha said. I decided to add burpees in there for Tarawera. It was my first miler as well so it was tough, I haven t done much trail running so I found the trails tough, quite technical.
Psychologist Paora Joseph s registration cancelled for sexual misconduct with patient

A psychologist who conducted at least one therapy session where he lay naked with his client and engaged in sexual contact will have his registration cancelled.
Whangarei psychologist Paul Joseph, also known as Paora Joseph, has also been found guilty by a health board of suggesting a threesome between himself, the woman, and her flatmate.
According to a substantive decision released by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, the misconduct occurred between 2004 and 2005.
