The Virtual Firecracker Cuties Contest will be held as a digital online event heading into the Fourth of July open to all communities, ages and genders this year. The entry deadline has been extended to Thursday, July 1. For details visit the Facebook Page for the Port Clinton Area 4th of July Celebration. The winners will be announced at the Voices of Freedom Concert.
Fireworks will be featured at Port Clinton’s Waterworks Park on the Fourth of July, a long-awaited Sunday extravaganza after the 2020 celebrations had been put on hold all around the area.
All of the area fireworks shows are ready to rock the skies, from Port Clinton to Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay, Lakeside Chautauqua and the early Saturday, July 3 show at dusk along the Portage River in downtown Oak Harbor.

The Ottawa County Community Foundation honored its long-time president Joy Roth, with incoming President Jan Preston presenting the Joy Roth Little Tiger Award to General Manager Babs Klacik of the popular Bistro 163 pay-it-forward restaurant in Port Clinton. This year’s grant awards presented by the Ottawa County Community Foundation were the focus of a bittersweet breakfast on Thursday at the Sutton Center in Port Clinton. The 35 grant recipients who received a collective $53,000 were overjoyed with the financial support, but for the first time in two decades the dynamic leader of the foundation, Joy Roth, was not there.
