Grenada donates and pledges more

Grenada donates and pledges more Volunteers putting together a shipment of water in Grenada that arrived in SVG last Sunday. The Government of Grenada will provide $1 million in support for the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines, to help deal with the impact of the explosive eruptions at the La Soufriere volcano. The Prime Minister said Government’s cash donation will be in addition to other emergency humanitarian relief that is being coordinated by the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA). The first shipment of supplies left Grenada arrived in Port Kingstown last Sunday.  The shipment contained primarily water, an urgent need given the contamination of the water supply, but it also included non-perishable food, hygiene products, baby products and adult care items.

T&T sends emergency supplies to SVG The Galleons Passage docked at Port Kingstown where it offloaded a varied quantity of emergency supplies. The Trinidad and Tobago Ro-Ro/Passenger Ship Galleons Passage arrived in Kingstown on Tuesday with emergency supplies for the volcano-stricken St. Vincent and the Grenadines.    The supplies, donated by various organisations throughout Trinidad and Tobago as well as private citizens, included food items, water, sanitary supplies, tents, three water trucks filled with water, medical supplies and a quantity of personal protective equipment. Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves was present to greet the members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force who had accompanied the shipment of supplies.  He expressed thanks to the government.

The assurance came from Venezuela’s Vice Minister for the  Caribbean and Special Envoy of President Nicholas Maduro, Raúl Li Causi. He was speaking during a ceremony held at Port Kingstown on Monday, as the vessel arrived with humanitarian aid and a team of Risk Experts,  to assist with the volcano relief  effort.
