David Lawrence Jr. reappointed to FAMU Board of Trustees
Gov. Ron DeSantis last week announced the appointment of David Lawrence Jr. to the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees.
Lawrence Jr., of Coral Gables, is Chair of The Children’s Movement of Florida.
Previously, he was publisher of The Miami Herald, publisher and executive director of the Detroit Free Press and editor of the Charlotte Observer.
Lawrence Jr., who has served on the FAMU Board of Trustees since 2015, is Director Emeritus on The Everglades Foundation Board of Directors and is a former Chairman of both the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County and the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe.

KINGSTON, R.I. – May 11, 2021 – For the second year in a row, University of Rhode Island sophomore Jack Eustis ‘23, of
East Greenwich, has been selected to receive a Project Global Officer Scholarship (Project GO). An initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office in the United States Department of Defense, Project GO is designed to equip future military officers with valuable language and intercultural skills through intensive study abroad programs.

Two Colorado State University students have earned David L. Boren Awards from the National Security Education Program, a federal initiative designed to support students interested in national security and linguistics.
Mitch Roberts, a graduate student in the Warner College of Natural Resources, and Taylor Ziska, a senior in the College of Liberal Arts, each received the honors, which provides funding to study abroad to acquire language skills and international experience.
