PHOTO: AFP PESHAWAR: K-P Assembly on Monday passed three bills including Khyber Pakthunkhwa Amendment of Certain Fiscal Laws Bill, 2021 under which the government has widened the property tax net. The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Trust (Amendment) Bill 2021 was also introduced in the assembly and the Khyber Pakthunkhwa Amendment of Certain Fiscal Laws Bill, 2021, Khyber Pakthunkhwa Control of Narcotics Substance (Amendment) Bill 2021, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sugar Factories Control (Amendment) Bill 2020 were passed by the house. The house earlier resumed its session with a 15-point agenda. A privilege motion was submitted by MPA Fazal Ilahi in which he blamed that Assistant Commissioner Rizwani Dar on December 19 removed all his inauguration boards in the Mattani area.

Sindh Assembly outlaws ice, ecstasy, other recreational drugs Karachi January 16, 2021 The Sindh Assembly on Friday passed into law the Control of Narcotics Substance (Sindh Amendment) Bill-2021 to outlaw trafficking and use of synthetic drugs and other modern forms of narcotics, including so-called recreational drugs. The bill passed by the Sindh Assembly amended the Control of Narcotics Substance Act 1997 for the province of Sindh. The statement of objects and reasons of the bill states: “In the existing Control of Narcotics Substances Act-1997, the drugs are defined in detail with complete explanation of their usage, carrying, making, selling, purchasing, and consumption which makes it applicable to the defined catalog only.”

File photo PESHAWAR: The long-delayed proposed law on domestic violence against women was passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday declaring the abuse of women by family members an offence punishable with one-five years imprisonment along with fine. Social welfare minister Hisham Inamullah Khan presented the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Domestic Violence against Women (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2021, in the house for approval. Under the bill, domestic violence against women includes economic, psychological and physical abuses.
