KUCHING, Jan 21: Two individuals, including a policeman with two previous drug offences, were arrested here last Tuesday for possessing syabu and ecstasy powder worth RM139,270.
Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, in a statement today, said the 39-year-old police personnel was arrested at the registration counter of a service apartment in Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli here.
“During the raid, the suspect was found holding a brown box while the second suspect, aged 42, was outside the registration counter.
The second suspect tried to escape to a vehicle at the side of the building but was caught,” it said.

Judge Rozilah Salleh also ordered both the accused, Lance Corporal Shaiful Rizal Osman, 36, and Constable Muhammad Zuhair Mazlan, 28, from the Narcotics Division of the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters to serve two-months’ jail if they fail to pay the fine.
Judge Rozilah reprimanded both the accused for blindly following orders, saying that as police personnel, they should be able to think whether the instructions they received from their superiors were against the law or not.

LANGKAWI: Police managed to smash a drug trafficking syndicate after detaining nine men with 469.91 grams of heroin and syabu worth RM21,244.70, seized in four separate raids around the island on Thursday and yesterday (Jan 9).
Langkawi district police chief, ACP Shariman Ashari said that the successful disabling of the syndicate activities, masterminded by nine local men, aged 19 to 46, was done through ‘Op Tapis’ by the Langkawi district police headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department.
“The first arrest involved a 26-year-old man with 22.70 grams of heroin at 12.30 am by a roadside in Kampung Darat Benta, Kedawang.

BALIK PULAU: A drug trafficking syndicate operating from budget hotels in Bayan Lepas has been crippled after the police arrested nine people and seized drugs worth more than RM40,000.
Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said the suspects are aged from 17 to 39 years old and were nabbed during series of raids conducted between 11am to 6.30pm on Tuesday (Jan 5).
Supt Anbalagan said in the first raid, a team of police from the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) raided a room at a budget hotel here and found drugs believed to be syabu and heroin. When police barged into the room, four suspects were found and drugs believed to be syabu and heroin were found in packets, he said during a press conference at the district police headquarters on Friday (Jan 8).
