Forza Di Oro wins the Discovery
Don Alberto Stable homebred Forza Di Oro made a splash in a Saratoga allowance race last week, coming off an eight-month layoff to win by three lengths while geared down at the wire. Trainer Bill Mott plans to point the lightly-raced 4-year-old son of Speightstown to the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup on Sept. 4 at the Spa, according to the

Donato’s Saratoga selections for Thursday, July 22, 2021 | The Daily Gazette
SECTIONS
Thursday’s ninth race is a $103k Allowance run at 1 1/8 miles over the dirt, and it provides one of several opportunities to potentially capitalize on a morning line longshot.
Ice Princess (8-5) enters as the favorite, having placed in the Grade III Comley Stakes at Aqueduct last November and earning the field’s highest Beyer in the process. She has proven the most in the field and retains jockey Irad Ortiz in her second race off her layoff, but she comes in with flaws.
She failed as the favorite in the two races following a drop in class from her Grade III runs, and hasn’t won in her last seven outings dating back to February 2020. Her run style does not perform well against my historical model for this race, either. She has the most talent in the field, enough so that she must be my pick to win, but at her morning line price, I would have to look elsewhere for value.

SARATOGA SPRINGS Trainer Chad Brown has won the Grade III Lake George for 3-year-old fillies in four of the last six years.
If he doesn’t win it again in Friday’s featured stakes at Saratoga Race Course, it won’t be for lack of trying.
Brown will saddle four of the 10 horses in what appears to be a very competitive field, with the Todd Pletcher-trained Jouster a slight favorite on the morning line, at 7-2.
Brown’s squadron includes Technical Analysis; Amy C, who is coming off an allowance win at Belmont Park in her first start since arriving from France; Minaun, who was second be a half-length to Runaway Rumour in the Wild Applause at Belmont on June 26; and Fluffy Socks, a graded stakes winner in 2020 looking for her first victory of the season.
