Mr Daley, who led Labor to its 2019 NSW election defeat, has thrown his hat in the ring to become party leader again after Jodi McKay s resignation on Friday.
NSW Shadow Treasurer resigns from frontbench 25/05/2021|4min
NSW Shadow Treasurer Walt Secord has announced his resignation from the Labor Party frontbench saying he could no longer serve in a Jodi McKay-led shadow ministry.
It comes after a staff member to deputy Labor leader Yasmin Catley distributed a ‘dirt dossier’ on potential leadership contender Chris Minns to the press gallery in a move that has been described by sections of the Party as “absolutely abhorrent”.
Mr Secord said both Ms McKay and Ms Catley must now come clean despite the pair denying having any knowledge of the file.
“Today I’ve taken a very tough decision and I’ve decided to resign from the front bench under Jodi McKay,” he told media on Tuesday.
