Everett Race for Mayor: Councilor Fred Capone Announces Campaign for Mayor – Everett Independent

Councilor Fred Capone announced this week that he intends to run for mayor, saying he will run to bring in an administration that has respect for one another and has a goal of promoting prosperity and inclusion for every resident of the city. Capone announced his candidacy online with a video message late last week, making the news known in a one-minute video released online where he announced his bid from his office. Then, this week he officially put his reasonings on paper early this week – explaining why he is running and “Everett’s future is bright, but there is much more that needs to be done in the present,” he wrote. “After 14 years of the same administration, the time has come for a change at City Hall so that all our voices are heard…There are many wonderful opportunities ahead for our city and they shouldn’t be squandered.  They should be addressed together. The future of our community should be planned together. Decisions by your city government and how it

Eyes on Milwaukee: Barrett Pushes Council To Accept Milwaukee Tool Deal

Council seeking labor agreement for contracted service workers. By Jeramey Jannene - Apr 24th, 2021 03:40 pm //end headline wrapper ?>Milwaukee Tool rendering for 501 W. Michigan St. Rendering by Stephen Perry Smith. Next week the Milwaukee Common Council will begin its review of the Milwaukee Tool financing proposal that would bring up to 2,000 jobs to the Westown neighborhood in exchange for $20 million in city cash as part of a complicated, performance-based tax incremental financing district. But it’s not what’s in the deal that has raised concern from council members, it’s what is not in it. A labor group is pushing for a community benefits agreement to establish pay assurances and job protection for the contracted service workers that will support the office facility at 501 W. Michigan St.

Marshfield Common Council Choose New President

Marshfield Common Council Choose New President By Liz Holbrook Apr 20, 2021 9:05 PM MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) The Marshfield Common Council has a new leader, and thus, a new person filling the duties of the Mayor’s office. After two consecutive 5-to-5 tie votes by the city’s 10 aldermen last night, a coin flip put District Two representative Nick Poeschel in the role of Common Council President, replacing District Six Alderman Tom Witzel. And since the Council voted to remove Bob McManus from the Mayor’s office on March 22nd, the Council President has been–and will continue–fulfilling the baseline duties of that office, like signing official city documents and presiding over Council meetings. The future of the Mayor’s office will be up for discussion next Tuesday, April 27th, after the Council last week decided to wait until new Alderman Brian Varsho took his seat in District Four.

Changing Of the Guard Takes Place In Sheboygan

By Kevin Zimmermann Apr 20, 2021 6:11 AM At Monday night’s meeting of the Sheboygan Common Council a resolution was introduced by all ten Alderpersons commemorating the distinguished service of Michael Vandersteen to the City of Sheboygan.  That final measure closes the era in Sheboygan’s Mayoral office that began 8 years ago when then 61-year-old County Board Chairman Mike Vandersteen won election to his first of two four-year terms as Mayor. Today, 27-year-old Ryan Sorenson takes over after a quick rise from Alderperson to Common Council President last June, and now to the city’s top office. Sorenson defeated Vandersteen in the past spring election 4,417 to 3,113.
