LINCOLN – An attempt by Lincoln’s budget board to allocate bond premium funds to certain school capital projects has been shut down.
Town and school officials have long agreed to spend a portion of the Lincoln High School construction project bond premium money to move the school district’s administrative offices from the former Lincoln Memorial School to LHS.
School leaders also recently announced plans to build a new student athletic center at LHS, to be funded in part by the bond premium.
The budget board had other ideas, putting forward three separate resolutions for school capital projects to be funded by the bond.
LINCOLN – During a closed-door session Tuesday on the performance and possible employment termination of an undisclosed employee, former Town Clerk Monique Clauson, who was arrested in December and subsequently placed on leave from her job, slipped out of the room and quietly exited Town Hall.
Clauson, who served as town clerk and municipal court clerk, was arrested in December on charges of misappropriating approximately $69,000 in town funds for her personal use between 2011 and 2020.
She was placed on leave after her arrest while State Police investigated the matter.
Prior to her departure from the building Tuesday, she and attorneys met with councilors for nearly an hour.

LINCOLN – After meeting in executive session to discuss the potential sale of the former Fairlawn Elementary School on Tuesday, Lincoln’s Town Council members remained tight-lipped about the status of the deal.
The council voted unanimously on Tuesday to “instruct the council president to act as directed in executive session” regarding the sale of the school.
What, exactly, Council President Keith Macksoud has been asked to do, remains unclear. Pressed for more information after the meeting, Macksoud told The Breeze he could not say any more on the matter.
