Mike Weaver, who served as Alabama Insurance Commissioner under Gov. Guy Hunt from 1988 to 1993, passed away Sunday after an extended illness. He was 70.
Weaver was a longtime resident of Randolph County, a graduate of Randolph County High School and Auburn University. For 28 years he was owner of Weaver and Associates Insurance Consultants.
From 1973 until 1988, Weaver was involved in various positions in the life insurance industry, ending as regional underwriting manager for reinsurance in the Southeast Region for American United Life in their Atlanta office.

In 1988, he was named Alabama’s Insurance Commissioner where he organized, supervised, and administered the Alabama Department of Insurance for nearly five years.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Family members of former Alabama Attorney General Jimmy Evans confirms he died Monday morning.
Family members say he died at the hospital following complications with pneumonia and a heart attack. He was 81 years old.

The University of Alabama alumnus served as a city judge in Montgomery, Montgomery County district attorney, and state attorney general.
One of the things Evans is best known for was prosecuting former Gov. Guy Hunt. He was the first Republican governor elected after reconstruction after the Civil War.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Former Alabama Attorney General Jimmy Evans, who successfully prosecuted the state’s governor in an ethics case in the 1990s, died Monday. He was 81. His death was confirmed by Brian T. Gallion, the operator of Southern Memorial Funeral Home which is handling the funeral arrangements for the family. Gallion said he was not authorized to give a cause of death. Services will be held Monday. Evans was Alabama’s attorney.
Evans’s name would become forever linked with the Hunt prosecution that led to the ouster of the state’s first Republican governor since Reconstruction.
