JACKSON, MI A drive-thru tent at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center has brisket and mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts with balsamic vinaigrette all for hungry Jackson residents.
A new program to help Jackson’s restaurant industry and give these free meals to Jackson residents kicked off Monday, Feb. 1.
The Our Town meal distribution program through Consumers Energy and the city of Jackson passed out 1,250 pre-packaged dinners from 10 Jackson-area restaurants.
“Some of these meals; it smells so good in the tent,” sad Mindy Bradish-Orta, Consumers Energy community affairs manager.
