ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) The Rochester City School District addressed the settlement reached in the class-action special education lawsuit filed against the district in 2019 during a meeting Thursday night.
Families and advocates claimed that the district was not complying with its obligation to provide a free, appropriate public education to students with disabilities and parents claimed they were not given an opportunity to participate.
Since then, the Rochester City School District worked to improve special education in the district and a preliminary approval was granted in December.
The final approval hearing is set for Feb. 4.
