ALLENTOWN, Pa., May 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Temperatures are heating up in eastern Pennsylvania.
While we all welcome fun in the sun, sometimes you just need to get inside the air conditioning and chill out. Air-conditioning costs account for 12% of total home energy expenses, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, so taking some simple energy efficiency steps can really pay off.
Follow these energy efficiency tips to stay comfortable and pocket savings for a rainy day:
Make sure your drapes and shades are pulled down during the day to block the hot sun.
Minimize the use of heat-generating appliances, such as dishwashers, stoves, washers and dryers during the warmest hours of the day.
Kentucky Power has awarded its AEPâTeacher Vision Grants, according to the company.
The AEP Teacher Vision Grant program provides aid ranging from $100 to $500 to classroom teachers.
âThese grants are designed to reward the talents and creativity of Pre-K through grade 12 educators devoted to motivating youth to think creatively, to step into leadership roles and to address the challenges of the future,â said Bob Shurtleff, external affairs manager.

2 northbound lanes of Skyway Extension now open and temporarily toll-free
TWO of three lanes of the Skyway Extension project’s northbound section have been opened to motorists, San Miguel Corp. (SMC) announced on Monday. The northbound section that covers four kilometers from Susana Heights to Sucat in Parañaque can now be used by light vehicles like cars and vans with radio-frequency identification or RFID, SMC President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang said in an e-mailed statement. “Our long-term solution to addressing traffic particularly on SLEX (South Luzon Expressway) heading to the Alabang area has finally been realized,” Mr. Ang said.
