If you ignored the face masks for a moment, you could stroll through any of the larger communities in the North and almost imagine that the COVID-19 pandemic hadn’t really happened. People would give you a wider berth as you passed on the sidewalk, and you might notice a stronger sense of “buy local” among the shoppers in the stores you visit. But people would be out and about. The streets would be busy, much as they were before the pandemic. Almost.

The Yukon government is implementing a new policy that aims to give First Nations businesses a leg up when it comes to bidding on government contracts.
The first phase of the Yukon First Nations Procurement Policy is now in effect.
The policy looks to award 15 per cent of all territorial procurement contracts to Yukon First Nations businesses, and incentivizes subcontracting or partnering with those businesses.

The housing market in the Twin Cities had a record-breaking year in 2020 despite there being a pandemic that left thousands of people out of work and a weeks-long stay at home order in what s usually the busiest time for the housing market.
In fact, the pandemic aided in the active housing market, the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors and the St. Paul Area Association of Realtors said in a news release Tuesday. The pandemic forced people to work and learn from home, leading to people wanting more space.
Workers compensation rebate cheques coming to Yukon employers
Yukon employers will be getting a cheque in the mail soon, from the Yukon Workers Compensation Health and Safety Board.
