A WEST Cumbrian MP has marked the Christmas season by sending out more than 6,000 books to schoolchildren in the area. Mark Jenkinson, MP for Workington, has sent thousands of copies of The Nutcracker to youngsters across his constituency to mark the festive period. Mr Jenkinson sent an accompanying letter to pupils, saying that each of us should make time for a little reading every day . Reading doesn’t just help with education, it can help each of us with our general and mental wellbeing, he wrote. A number of schools throughout the west Cumbrian constituency expressed their gratitude to Mr Jenkinson for the gifts via social media.
