SERGEANT BLUFF The Le Mars Community softball team came up just short of keeping their season alive with the hopes of making a repeat trip to the state tournament as they dropped a 4-3 contest to conference rival Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the Class 4A regional semifinal round Saturday.
Le Mars had the bases loaded trailing by a run with one out in the seventh, but could not push the tying run home in the frame. Averie Morgan reached on a fielders choice, but the Warriors got the lead runner out at home for the second out of the inning. The Warriors sealed the win on a ground out off the bat of Avery Pratt.
