The process of amendments to the 1999 constitution would not entertain any restrictions on areas to be touched, sources in the National Assembly Committee have hinted.
This is because overall, 268 memoranda have so far been received by the National Assembly Committee headed by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo Agege, including memoranda for restructuring of the nation along the geopolitical zones.
The 2014 conference report organised by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration is also part of the 268 memoranda in the 9th National Assembly constitution review.
Other items listed in the agenda include state creation, review of the revenue distribution, state police and devolution of power from the centre.
The presidential bid of the National Leader of All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has received a boost as former and current Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in the South-west Thursday drummed support for his 2023 presidential quest.
The former and current top lawmakers in the zone gathered at Carlton Gate Xclusive Hotel, Ibadan, on Wednesday and Thursday for a strategic meeting convened by Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
At the meeting where they agreed on some far-reaching resolutions on how to actualise the presidential aspiration of Tinubu, Speaker Obasa formally introduced the Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Foundation and Movement, a campaign platform created for the purpose of mobilising for Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
