OFFER: Cllr Beverley Nielsen with Roger Britton, WCF Trustee THE group trying to save Malvern Hills College has said it is ready to make a formal offer, with more than £850,000 raised. The Malvern Hills College SOS Task Group announced it has raised £850,000 for a formal offer to be made to Warwickshire Colleges Group for Malvern Hills College. This formal offer has been made by the stakeholders and member of the Task Group, Worcestershire Community Foundation. The SOS Task Group, formed by Cllr Tom Wells, has worked over the past two months to bring together different groups for a community option to the closure, which was announced by WCG at the end of 2020. ....
MEETING: Cllr Tom Wells, Roger Bevan, Angela Joyce and Cllr Beverley Nielsen at their meeting PROGRESS is being made in finding a solution to save a county college from closure. The management of Malvern Hills College has been holding regular meetings with a group of local councillors, academics and business figures to try and prevent the planned 2021 closure of the college, announced last month by WCG. Since then, chairman of the Malvern Hills College SOS Task Group, Beverley Nielsen and Cllr Tom Wells, founder of the Task Group, met with Angela Joyce, CEO and deputy principal of WCG, Roger Bevan on December 14 to discuss possible solutions. ....
The Malvern Hills College SOS Task Group was set up by a number of local councillors and Beverley Nielsen, chair of the Malvern Hills College SOS Task Group, said: Since the first meeting of our Task Group on Wednesday last week I have organised a number of meetings enabling myself and Cllr Tom Wells, as Task Group founder, to gain a 360 degree understanding of the situation prioritising the needs of our local community along with current challenges faced on the ground. I have organised various meetings and Tom and I have, this week, met with Warwickshire Colleges Group CEO, Angela Joyce, together with governor representatives - past and present. ....
