A valiant second-half comeback by the shorthanded UMass women’s lacrosse team fell just short on Friday.
Taking on Temple in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Chestnut Hill, the Minutewomen found themselves down seven players including top two goal-scorers Kelly Marra and Stephanie Croke due to COVID-19 protocols. The announcement came just before the game, yet there was no quit in UMass.

Playoff time is upon us and the first round of games today, surprisingly, led to no
real surprises. The games that you would have expected to be tight ones, were tight, and the games that you would expect to be out of reach were as well. So far, the selection committee seems to have been pretty spot on with where they’ve placed everyone.
But if I had to guess, the lack of “upsets” will not last… as I’m sure that there will be at least one or two games that we all won’t expect the results of.
