It’s time for spring cleaning. That means different things for different people. In general, though, washing down walls and windows each year makes your home feel refreshed. Laundering curtains and scrubbing carpets and floors can make it seem almost like new. Many people choose to hose away the winter’s grime from porches and patios. That can make them more inviting places to spend time as the weather warms. But what about the clutter? Unless you are nothing like me or the vast majority of people I know, you’re bound to have unwanted or unnecessary items lying around your home. Removing those excess things from your life can lift a weight from your shoulders.

Easter Craft and Vendor Event slated for March 20 | News, Sports, Jobs

Times Leader Staff Writer ST. CLAIRSVILLE An Easter Craft and Vendor Event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 20 at the Belmont County Fairgrounds’ Wise Building. The event will feature 40 different vendors selling a variety of goods, wares and crafts. The vendors will be set up inside and outside of the facility. There is no entry fee, said Mark Matthias, event organizer. Food vendors also will be available for people to purchase lunch and beverages. Social distancing and masks will be required because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “This is the first year for this event. There will be six throughout the year at the Belmont County Fairgrounds,” Matthias said.

Martins Ferry City Council plans spring cleanup for March 27 | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer MARTINS FERRY The city is gearing up for another spring cleanup on March 27 near the former city garage property on First Street. Martins Ferry City Council President Kristine Davis said Mayor John Davies made the announcement about the cleanup during this week’s council meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, JB Green Team also has slated several cleanups across townships in Belmont County. The Martins Ferry city cleanup is set for 8 a.m. to noon March 27 for city residents only. Residents can bring their unwanted household materials to the site for disposal into dumpsters. No hazardous materials can be disposed of including paint, chemicals, tires or TVs.

DeWine encourages vaccinations | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer ST. CLAIRSVILLE Gov. Mike DeWine continues to ask Ohio nursing home workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19. “We’ve made nursing homes a priority because over half our deaths in the state of Ohio have occurred in nursing homes. Our goal is to get as many people in nursing homes residents as well as those who work in nursing homes the opportunity to take the shot as quickly as they can,” DeWine said. He said 61 percent of Ohio nursing homes have been visited by those who are administering vaccinations. Several staffers were vaccinated during the governor’s broadcast on Tuesday.
