New York Film Premiere of THE MAN WHO WANTED TO FLY to be Screened by Irish Repertory Theatre The Man Who Wanted to Fly tells the irresistible story of 80-something bachelor farmer Bobby Coote from Cavan who has had a lifelong dream to fly a plane.by BWW News Desk Irish Repertory Theatre announced today that they will host virtual screenings of the New York film premiere of The Man Who Wanted to Fly. Directed by Frank Shouldice and produced by Trisha Canning and Cormac Hargaden of Loosehorse Productions, The Man Who Wanted to Fly will be screened online on Tuesday May 25 at 7pm ET and Wednesday May 26 at 2pm & 7pm ET. All screenings will include closed captions.

Irish Rep Announces THE ARAN ISLANDS: A Performance on Screen

Irish Repertory Theatre announced today that their next Performance on Screen digital production is The Aran Islands by J.M. Synge and adapted and directed by Joe O Byrne. Starring Brendan Conroy, the virtual production of The Aran Islands will premiere on Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 7pm ET and run through Sunday March 28, 2021. In the grey, sea-battered landscape of the Aran Islands, full of mist and wild rain, hearth is home and storytellers regale with tales by the fire. When John Millington Synge traveled to these remote islands upon the advice of W.B. Yeats in 1898, he discovered a bleakly primitive, mystical land that would inspire him for the rest of his life, leading to canonical works in Irish theatre, including The Playboy of the Western World and Riders to the Sea.

@ Home Winter Festival The Irish Repertory Theatre begins its Theatre @ Home Winter Festival on Tuesday with its first of nine different productions that will run between January 26th – February 21st with each production playing at four different times throughout the month. MOLLY SWEENEY Molly Sweeney has lived in happy, capable, and independent darkness since she was ten months old. When Frank, her restless, unemployed, and enthusiastic husband, makes her blindness his latest cause, he recruits Mr. Rice, a once-famous surgeon who, despite being half-drowned in Irish whiskey, agrees to attempt to restore Molly’s sight. When the bandages come off, Molly, Frank, and Mr. Rice discover the differences between seeing and understanding as they face the terrible consequences of a medical miracle.
