Joshua Watson was killed during a shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola on Dec. 6, 2019. The Naval Academy graduate from Enterprise, Alabama, had just reported to Pensacola two weeks prior to begin training as a Navy pilot.
Wagner men’s track and field team captures first NEC Outdoor Championship

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Wagner College men’s outdoor track & field team won its first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Track and Field title Sunday after scoring 110 points on day two to finish atop of the 10-team field with a final score of 165.
The Seahawks, whose roster is littered with Staten Islanders, entered the final day with a 21-point lead.
Central Connecticut, who was in sixth place at the end of the competition on day one, finished second with 128 points while Mount St. Mary’s, who entered the final day in second, dropped down to third, finishing with 115 points.
Clemson Athletics Black History: Michael Green
Michael Green was the first Clemson men’s track athlete to win the NCAA Championship in the indoor 55 meters. And he did it twice, winning the event in 1992 and 1993. He also won the NCAA Championship in the outdoor 100 meters in the spring of 1993 with a time of 10.09.
Green won six All-America certificates in his career, two indoors and four outdoors. At the conference level, he was a nine-time ACC Champion, six individual events and three relays. He was the Most Valuable Performer of the ACC meet indoors and outdoors in 1993.
He is one of the few athletes to win both the Frank Howard Award and the IPTAY Athlete of the Year over his career.
Clemson Athletics Black History: Kim Graham
Kim Graham was inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998, the first African-American women’s track athlete to be chosen. She was also named to the ACC 50-Year Anniversary women’s track team in 2003.
That same year Graham won the Frank Howard Award, the honor given each year to the athlete who brought the most honor to Clemson University.
Graham was the first Clemson women’s track athlete to be named the Most Valuable Performer of the ACC Indoor Championships, and was a two-time winner of the award outdoors, 1991 and 1993.
Graham is Clemson’s all-time leader in ACC Championships, as she won 10 individual and five more on relays between 1991-93. She was a five-time All-American, one indoor and four outdoor.
